Last Sunday I gave the boy goats their tetanus shots in preparation for today.
This afternoon I banded them with the help of Stacy, Dyke, Alex, and Carly. Oh and Marky of course. I have been moving the boys to the buck pen with their Daddy to get them used to browsing and make sure they can live that way. it has been a good break for the moms and I get about 1 quart of milk/day milking just once per day.

I called the buyer and updated him on their progress and told him I wanted about 5 days to make sure the bands stayed on and did not cause any problems. He asked if Friday would be a good day to pick them up. So I guess I will be sending them off on Friday. I will have to start milking twice/day starting on Saturday.

I don’t know how I feel about selling these boys. I had to bottle feed Big and Rich until just this last week. They are all eating hay and grain and weeds (pasture) just fine. but it is kind of sad to think they won’t be around to greet me in the morning.

On the bright side, I won’t have to feed a bale of hay every 1 or 2 days once they are gone. and I will have money for the next hay load when I need it.

I am still hot packing Rosie’s udder thinking it is getting better and then wondering why it does not seem to be getting better faster. I need to learn how to dry them off properly to avoid mastitis in the other girls. I also need ot get back to fixing up the milk house and building a chicken ark asap.

Things will change at the end of the week, God help me to be ready.
