I have had a garden for the past several years. It has been something to enjoy and produces some food for the home. this year however, Jon has done all of the planning and effort toward getting the garden going with the intent of participating in the farmer’s market.
The first thing I had to do when I wanted to garden was clear the space. Like everything else on this property there was literally tonnes of junk, scrap metal and old fencing and building debris…… Here is a “before” picture from 2006:
It looks much better now, but it seemed to take a long time to get it to where I could even break ground and plant anything. what you can’t see in this picture is the small pit I had to fill in, and the barrels that are laying on their sides and are covered with old grasses and weeds.
I started out with a “small” 10′ x 20′ plot, and the next year expanded that to 10′ x 60′ which let me expand the number of plants I could put in the ground.
