Progress at last

First a rant about the food bank. Our church puts on a community breakfast once a month. Free to anyone who wishes to eat. In order to provide for all who want need a free meal part of the food comes from our local food bank. Continue reading

In the heat of the day

So, this week we have had some higher temperatures, high 80’s to upper 90’s. I think we even had a day this past week that broke 100 degrees. Of course with the heat of the summer we also tend to get the smoke from distant range/forest/wild fires so the air quality suffers a bit. Continue reading

Just the facts

For this past week:

330 + feet of new pasture fence built
~ 25 people here for 4th of July celebration
Way too many late nights
A whole lot of very good food consumed
Several very hot days

Egg count for the week of 6/29/2014 thru 7/5/2014:

  • Eggs gathered: 67
  • Sold: 3 dozen
  • Traded for labor (fence building) or used for picnic: 13 dozen
  • Cartons filled: 5

It has been a busy week, not everything got done or even started that I intended to do. Well, there is always tomorrow!

Umbrella Bamboo (Fargesia murielae) seedling in it’s new home

Or maybe it should be Bamboo-zeld and weaseled. It turns out I do not have any pictures of the running bamboo after I planted them. I did however take one (or two or three) of the clumping bamboo I planted today. Continue reading

Shoulder is Jive, Bamboo arrives, Ducks did not survive.

IMG_20140530_175526I am a day late, again, in posting this weekly egg summary. Holiday weekends seem to throw me off for some reason. We had company this last sunday. My brother and his wife stayed overnight on their way back home from a wedding in Wyoming. Always a good excuse to light up the firepit and cook out. Continue reading
